Registration is now open for getfit@mit 2016, a 12-week, team-oriented fitness challenge open to the entire MIT community, including students, faculty, staff, affiliates, and family members.

During the challenge, teams and individual participants who meet weekly exercise goals are eligible for weekly prize drawings, as well as several end-of-challenge awards. Participants can also sign up for special classes, events and contests?and every participant gets a free T-shirt.

Teams consist of five to eight members. To be eligible for prize drawings, participants must log their exercise minutes on the getfit@mit website, which is also mobile enabled for minutes-entry.

Kick-off events for this year?s challenge will be held:

  • Wednesday, January 13, 2016 from noon to 1 p.m.

Members of the getfit@mit organizing committee will be available to answer your questions, provide information about local fitness options, and give tips on staying in shape during the winter. You?ll also have the chance to win door prizes and to complete a fitness assessment that you can repeat at the mid-point and challenge end to see how you've progressed.

What?s new this year?

  • Dashboard visuals. Look for a little visual ?reward? on the getfit website each time you reach your weekly goal! You'll see you?re not the only one trying to achieve a fitness goal...
  • Minutes-entry reminders. You may now opt to receive a regular weekly email reminder to enter your minutes. This option can be found on your profile page.
  • Extra security. The Duo two-factor authentication process will be required when you log in via Touchstone to the getfit@mit website. Click here for more information.

You can register a team through Thursday, January 28. Form a team with people you know?including family members at home?or visit the ?find a team? forum on the getfit@mit site, where you can connect with teams looking for members or individuals looking for teams. The challenge begins on Monday, February 1, 2016.
